Lianne Fernandez

Lianne Fernández has been a successful teacher for over 15 years. Twice she was selected by her former students to be recognized in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. She was also chosen to be her school's Teacher of the Year and Social Studies Teacher of the Year. In addition to being a classroom teacher, she also worked at the district level and traveled among 44 schools, helping teachers integrate their curriculum and learn how to use assessments to drive the curriculum.

Her position as a Literacy Coach allows her the opportunity to model lessons and coach teachers in a collegially supportive environment. Working with small groups of students in reading and writing helps her keep in touch with the diverse needs of today's students.

She is the co-author of Reading and Writing Strategically: Raising the Bar of Expectations, a book designed to improve teacher performance in the classroom by employing effective teaching strategies. Her presentations are filled with concrete examples and provide participants with practical strategies to immediately implement within schools and classrooms. Participants will observe and participate in many of Lianne's enthusiastic teaching methods.
