NURTURE
Stress is found in all professions, and education is no exception. Teaching in the 21st century requires educators to fulfill numerous roles and responsibilities as children require more support and care than ever before. Yet how can we care for children and students when our own "watering can" is empty? It all starts with learning to nurture oneself as an educator. This workshop allows us opportunities and experiences that help us realize if we nurture ourselves…the endless possibilities of our own potential can be shared.
Sensory Connections
This workshop helps participants discover techniques of early sensory development and brain-based instruction from preschool through high school. Sensory connections build the foundation of interactions necessary to achieve quality and success in school and in life. Learn the importance of early brain development and how to design opportunities for true learning that occurs when multi-sensory experiences, ideas, and activities create emotionally-based responses to stimulation within the environment.
Bridging Brain Research to the Classroom
Meaningful experiences create foundations and stronger links to learning through real world information. Tying new information to senses and emotions stimulates interpersonal connections. Understanding the extensive information in brain research can be overwhelming. In this workshop participants will engage in brain-based actions as they are led across a creatively designed “bridge” from research to the classroom. Experience the positive impact of music, movement, art, and communication that stimulates every learner including those with attention, learning and behavioral challenges.
Early Literacy: From Cradle to the Classroom
More than half of children entering kindergarten run the risk of school failure. Learn strategies you can use daily with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to prepare them to read and write. Discover how to incorporate brain-based strategies through music, movement, language, science, and cooking. Each participant will engage in an interactive understanding of the phonological processes necessary in early literacy development to create a strong learning foundation to reading.
Linking Learning Styles and Teaching
Understand your own learning style and how that affects your teaching and presentation of information to students. Discover how to use multi-sensory, brain-based strategies that will incorporate learning styles to support the development of interactive lessons that reach all students. Participants will utilize new skills to create lessons, assessments, and daily interactions.
Homework, Discipline, and Communication…oh my… Understanding Your Child Better
We all know children do not come with a handbook, yet any information that can assist us in developing a better relationship with them is worth the effort. This workshop is designed for parents and families to experience communication, homework, and discipline strategies for their children by developing a hands-on knowledge of personal learning styles. These strategies can be used in any environment to reach the positive benefit of an increased adult/child interaction.
