  • Graduate credits earned from Penn State University, Indiana, University of Pennsylvania, Wilkes College, Clarion University, and Allentown College
  • 1985 Master's Degree, College of Mount St. Joseph, Cincinnati, Ohio

Teaching experience:

  • Du Bois Area Middle School, Social Studies — 15 years
  • Du Bois Area High School, A.P. United States History, Local History (a course that I developed) — 23 years

Related experience, recognition, awards, etc.:

  • 1994 — Du Bois Area Historical Society "Person of the Year."
  • 1999 — Teacher of the Year Award, Du Bois Area High School.
  • 2002 — received the 2500 Award from Performance Learning Systems.
  • 1965-1997 — Social Studies Department Chairman, Du Bois Area Schools.
  • 1966-2000 — served as a clinical field supervisor for Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
  • Served on numerous school evaluation teams.

What I love most about teaching:

That look in a student's eye when he/she has grasped a concept or idea.

My favorite moment in teaching:

When a student said to me, "You are the first teacher that I have heard that encouraged a high school student to become a teacher."

Personal information:

I have a small farm in Western Pennsylvania with 60 grass fed beef cows and 9 Peruvian Paso horses. I retired from Du Bois High in 2000 and rode a horse to school the last day. Ask about the Peruvian Paso Champagne Ride!
