What I love most about teaching:

Each and every day is a fresh start with new, exciting challenges and learning opportunities for my students and myself.

My favorite moment in teaching:

I am admittedly a lousy singer. When a child in my 2nd Grade classroom is celebrating a birthday, I play "Happy Birthday" for them on my flute while the class sings along. Several years ago, a girl I had taught ran up to me excitedly during a ballgame and said, "Mrs. Cowley, I play the flute now, too." Last year, I attended a Christmas concert at our high school and this same girl, now a Senior, played a solo on her flute. It was incredible. I have since noticed her name in the newspaper for several band-related awards. She may have decided to play the flute without my influence, but I like to think I had something to do with it.

Personal information:

My husband and I have been married for 17 years and have two children, Brayden and Carsyn, that we adore beyond words. I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling, reading, scrapbooking, bicycling, and working jigsaw puzzles.
