Why I love teaching PLS courses:
I feel that these courses provide the strategies that are most successful in the classroom of diverse learners. Also teachers are able to share the most effective menthods that they use in the classroom. Everyone learns from everyone else.
Education:
Bachelor of Arts Bradley University
Master of Arts University of Nebraska at Lincoln
Doctoral work (ABD) University of Nebraska at Lincoln
Teaching Experience:
Thirty-two years of teaching 9-12 at Peoria High School. German, French, Latin, English.
Related experience, recognition, awards, etc.:
Summer gifted program at Bradley University (board of directors of the program), German at Illinois Central College, speaker at foreign language meetings and conventions.
What I love most about teaching:
I love the look on a student's face when they suddenly understand a concept or idea. It brightens my day to know that they really do understand.
My favorite moment in teaching:
There have been many defining moments in my teaching career. I fondly remember a student who was having trouble in a junior English class. He stayed after class and offered me a wrapped gift that included a plaque about angels who had touched his life. He said it was especially for me, because he knew I was having chemotherapy the next day.
Personal information:
I love to walk, play tennis, sew, cross stitch, read, and enjoy every moment of life.
